Konyok Gorbunok

This Unity-based Suchbild (hidden object illustration) is inspired by the Russian fairy tale “Konyok-Gorbunok” (The Little Humpbacked Horse). It recreates a single key episode from the story: the hero’s encounter with the magical Chudo-Yudo Whale-Fish, who blocks the way forward - unless you help fulfill his requests.

About the Project

This project was created as part of the SPM Interactive Illustration course at Hochschule Ansbach. It explores the potential of interactive storytelling through a static hand-drawn scene that invites the viewer to explore, notice, and solve.

The interaction is simple: the whale-fish asks the player to find several objects hidden within the illustration. Once found, the path forward opens - the hero may continue his quest.

Visual Style

The illustration blends:

• Mezen folk art – geometric patterns, earthy red-black palette
• Vintage book illustration – reminiscent of mid-20th-century fairy tale books
• Hand-drawn textures and stylized characters
